Troubleshooting Elan PCI to PCMCIA Adapters
If you have a problem:
Most installations are completely trouble free, but because of the number of variable factors involved - the motherboard, BIOS and other installed hardware - some users find that their PSeries reader doesn't work first time.
- The most common cause of non-operation is that the PSeries drivers are not installed. Please check this first!
- It is also worth checking that you have the latest release and trying any pre-release candidates. Visit our driver download page
- It is also worth checking that the operating system that you are using is supported by our drivers. (See our list of supported operating systems, please note that in NT4 you will require SP6)

- Other tests you can usefully try include:
- testing your adapter in different PCI slots on the motherboard
- testing your adapter on a different PC
- trying different types of PCMCIA card (does a memory card work?).
- If you cannot find a solution here, please contact your supplier and be ready to give them the following information :
- Which model of adapter you are using
- When you purchased it from them
- PSeries driver software version:
- Operating System and version (plus service pack etc)
- PC/motherboard model and manufacturer
- Number of CPU's, type and speed
- Motherboard chipset (i.e. 440BX etc)
- BIOS manufacturer, version and serial number
- Type, make and model number of any PCMCIA cards that are being used A full description of the problem

Windows 95, 98 and Millennium Edition
- PCI IRQ Routing in Windows 9x - adapter will fail with a error code.
- Operating problems with Intel(R) Desktop Motherboard Board D815EEA and Intel(R) "Active Monitor" in Windows 98 - may cause Windows to crash with a page fault when a PC card is inserted. Also "Active Monitor" may report an voltage out of range error.
- Windows 95 OSR2 (B/C) fails to allocate resources to the PC-Card
